I AM SIMON (2008)
I AM SIMON is a photography/performance project that challenges the notion of the machismo of abstract painting, as well as the tortured and troubled alcoholic artist as genius.

In this intimate portrait we follow Simon, "The Most Important and Historic Painter of our Time" in his foiled attempts to make a painting, which instead becomes him drinking whiskey and smoking excessively. We accompany Simon through his moods of elation and sadness until his decline into passing out.

This video uses comedy to investigate serious issues of alcoholism, gender stereotypes in the art world, and questions the concept of abstract painting in the contemporary landscape.
