Sydney Croskery

I am thrilled to announce that I am a 2018 Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grant recipient.

I make sequences of drawings, paintings and objects that act as contemporary hieroglyphics, sourced from a personal archive of collected items stored in an artist made digital database. Using the power of the computer database, I am able to create search functions to access the individual items, which become content and character for object-based works. I like to thing of these objects as being stand-ins for a coded but fluid language, and I use this idiosyncratic process as metaphor and vehicle to explore ideas of perception and misperception in our current environment.
